The topic of my first blog is “Trump says Not Kidding about third term! Of course this is constitutionally illegal. It was made impossible by Amendment 22 of the Constitution on February 17th, 1951, as a reaction to President Franklin Roosevelt’s four terms. The amendment’s purpose is not to allow any President becoming a monarch.
Apparently, that doesn’t apply to the current occupant of the White House donald trump at least he says so. I never voted for trump because of his ridiculous behavior including making fun of handicapped reporters and using crude terms to describe how to “get a woman?”. My dislike is based on more than that, his record in his first term.
Currently he is to be kind, abusing his executive authority. Remember he said he “wanted to be dictator.” Many of you will say he was joking but based on actions from his current term that is exactly what he wants to be. The founding fathers are rolling in their grave! The fact that he said he wanted to be a dictator and seek a third term is proof of his intentions.
The Founders designed their new government to have checks and balances, Legislative, Executive and Judicial as a check and balance on each other. Trump has trampled those checks and balances. His intentions are not like those of the founders, he believes it is much more efficient to have a primary decision make as the final word. Currently the Congress is allowing this to happen. The republicans with a razor thin majority in the House are encouraging that! As English Lord Actoni said, “absolute power correctly corrupts absolutely.”
So far, the Judicial branch is doing their job, but the legislative branch (Congress) is not! It is high time those republican representatives who claim to be following the constitution when they are definitely not. I urge all readers to voice your opinions to begin actually following the Constitution and stop this executive overreach.
